Phelps Creek Angus Farm, owned by Watt Foster, is a registered and commercial Angus cow/calf operation located on US 501 in Naruna, just five miles north of Brookneal, Virginia. For over twenty years, we’ve built our herd through strong genetics, rigorous culling, and a commitment to results. Our cattle come from proven bloodlines and are bred to strengthen any herd.

Over the years, we’ve grown on a solid genetic foundation with herd sires from respected programs such as Wehrmann Angus, Gardiner Angus Ranch, Knoll Crest Farm, and others. Our herd includes top-producing lines like Rito, GAR Grid Maker, GAR Retail Product, GAR Expectation, Bon View New Design, GAR Predestined, GAR Integrity, GAR Precision, and SVF Forever Lady. Angus from these lines have sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars worldwide. We are dedicated to producing animals of exceptional quality.

At Phelps Creek, our breeding program is simple but strict. We breed only the best cows—those with 100% birth success rates, proper milking ability, sound udders, and strong feet. No corners are cut. We partner with Select Sires, Inc. for our AI program, and synchronized fall AI breeding has become a key part of our strategy. In 2005, we used 38 embryo transfers combining three elite heifers from Gardiner Angus Ranch with top sires from Select Sires. We plan to expand our use of embryo transfer in the coming years. Historically, we’ve hosted a public sale in late summer featuring our best young registered bulls. We typically select 30–40 of our top bulls for this event. Whether you're looking to build your herd or add strong performers, our bulls deliver results. They work hard and generate returns. Currently, we maintain up to 400 top-quality registered Black Angus available for private treaty sale, including 100 Wye-bred Angus recently added from Charles Foster’s Keyacre herd. Our commercial herd is also expanding, with up to 400 black-influenced cattle. At any given time, we offer registered and commercial open heifers, bred heifers, cow/calf pairs, and bulls—all top-quality animals with strong genetics and performance. Only the best are kept.
