This has been an exciting year for us here at Phelps Creek Angus Farm.  We added some very promising herd sires and Charles Foster’s entire Keyacre herd.  On the production side, we have really raised the bar.  Our registered and commercial breeding programs are going strong as we had record production of 375 calves this year.  Our AI program with Select Sires, combined with a solid core of herd sires, is producing animals that continue to challenge the best in the business.

We have added 5 exciting herd sires from Gardiner Angus Ranch and Wehrmann Angus.  Their $Beef Value averages +42.59, and their Yearling EPD averages +83!  Included in these is Rito 3B4 from Wehrmann with an impressive +97YW.  The dam of 3B4, GAR Precision 2536, has %IMF and RE numbers that are, according to Wehrmann, “a record certainly unchallenged in the beef industry”.  His flush brother sold for $19,000 at lot 2 at this year’s Performance Brand Production Sale.  Also included in this group is GAR 1407 NEW DESIGN 5652 from Gardiner Angus Ranch in Kansas.  He boasts a top 1% breed ranking in $Beef at +46.30, and adjusted ribeye of 16.5.  His sire was the sire of GAR INTEGRITY who sold for $255,000 at the 2004 Gardiner production sale and is leased to Select Sires!  As a group, these are the best herd sires that we have ever had. 

Our AI program with Select Sires is bringing names like Grid Maker, Retail Product, and New Design into our herd.  These bulls and their progeny have sold for millions of dollars and counting.  GAR Integrity is next to come promising another generation of top EPD’s and $Beef Value.

In addition to our registered herd, our commercial program is in full production.  Angus influenced cattle is at a very high demand.  The traits that black angus bring to a herd are well documented.  We have many top quality angus influenced cattle available for sale at all times.

The condition of this year’s sale bulls is excellent.  They are weaned, preconditioned, and are on feed & pasture.  These bulls need to be grown out – they are too young to breed.  We can do this for you at the cost of $1.75 per day until you are ready for delivery.  The frame score of these bulls is moderate in the 5 to 6 range.
